OECD Semiconductor Informal Exchange Network in Costa Rica

I was honored to be invited as an expert for the 10th meeting of the OECD Semiconductor Informal Exchange Network (SIEN). The meeting took place in Costa Rica on April 21 to April 22, followed by the presentation of the OECD report on the Costa Rican semiconductor industry.

My presentation was part of a session on building chip design ecosystems, and I was presenting the status and potential of open source chip design as well as making recommendations. You can find the slides here. Along with other presentations the panel gave a great overview about potentials and challenges in building new talent and future directions. The discussion was very interesting as I observe a significant shift: The premise of open source chip design is not further questioned. It is a great achievement of FOSSi Foundation and the overall community that we have come so far.

It was an exciting trip and I unfortunately had to cancel my DATE keynote for it. But it was great opportunity to strengthen open source chip design and reach policy makers across the OECD countries. I hope the presentation and discussion also had some impact.
